Object description :

"Regency Period Mirror With Chimeras"
Large mirror with chimeras in gilded wood from the Regency period.
it is a superb and imposing mirror, finely carved and worked in an atypical form.
on either side he is flanked by chimeras, winged young women with mermaid bodies.
the base is decorated with a large mascaron representing a woman's face still in the spirit of Louis XIV.
the mirror is surmounted by a large shell very finely worked and comprising a decoration in the berain.
we find stylized shells on the sides near the chimeras in a large frame carved with acanthus leaves, flowers and garlands of flowers.
The mirror is elongated.
the mirror itself was replaced in the 19th century with a mirror comprising bevelled and comprising a bevel about 1 cm wide.
Over time this mirror is slightly pitted on the right side (take a good look at the photos) but the charm remains.
very beautiful gilding with gold leaf.
a superb work of sculpture of very good quality, a mirror that is out of the ordinary.
a small chip at the base which will be restored in the workshop.
