Jan Cornelisz. Verspronck (circa 1600-1603 in Haarlem - June 30, 1662 in Haarlem) was a Dutch portrait painter.
He was trained in the art of portraiture by his father, the painter Cornelis Engelsz. from Gouda. In 1632, he was a member of the Guild of Saint-Luc de Haarlem and pursued a career as a portrait painter.
He worked in his beginnings in the studio of Frans Hals by which he is strongly influenced.
In his portraits, he quickly detaches himself from the influence of his master and even opposed it by the wisdom and refinement of their execution1. In 1642 he won the competition for a group portrait of the regents of the Heilige Geesthuis, one of the richest charitable institutions in Haarlem, against Frans Hals. Twenty years later, he painted the portrait of the regents of Saint Elisabeth Gasthuis.
