Cassolette Period XVIIIth

Description:
Gilded and chiseled bronze, marble.

This covered pot consists of a large pearl pedestal, surrounded by an interlacing frieze.
The pedestal widens into a Medici, a bowl with gadroons, grooves.
The almost spherical body is entirely covered with putti and cherubs playing with flowers.
The cover socket (fixed) features a highly detailed berry cluster socket.
The quality of design and carving of the time is found in the ornamental details as in the design of the putti. Note the very detached bouquets of flowers, the "very 18th century" faces of the putti.
During the cleaning, the typical twist screws of the 18th century were revealed.
