"Huge Moulin Café De Comptoir, Van Couteren, Brussels, 1860"
Impressive monument of the Brussels Café-Tea counters from the Napoleon III period, Our mill, cubic box of varnished fruit wood, lined with 4 brass tops is a model by Van Couteren, it belonged to J. Melot, (engraved on the beautiful brass plate.)
It is a rare object, of great collection, 18 kilos for 71cm x 35 x 35cm, with wide lateral iron crank. The mechanics are OK and complete, the object is discovered condition, some lacks in the wooden sticks at the base, screws loose, the superb bowl of turned brass, standing on a square base is good, but its cover has lived and has a lot of scars and cracks.
A similar mill (last photo) was presented for sale in Chateaudun, estimated at 2 to 3000 €.
