"Monticelli Adolphe: The Two Companions"

The work was presented at the Monticelli exhibition from March 20 to May 11, 1879 in Marseille (Label on the back). Certificate of authenticity from Marc STEMMAGNA expert of the artist. Perfect condition, quality framing. Adolphe Monticelli, born in 1824 in Marseille, and died in his birthplace in 1886, is a French painter. Adolphe Monticelli is a student at the Lycée Thiers in Marseille, and at the École des beaux-arts which adjoins the lycée. He was influenced both by Eugène Delacroix, the works of the Louvre museum and the Provençal atmosphere. His daring, thick touch is similar to that of Narcisse Diaz de la Pena or Félix Ziem, whose lessons he followed. In 1865, he received from Napoleon III the order of a decoration for the Tuileries Palace. Dimensions without frame: 35.5 x 48.5 cm
