Renowned for its landscapes and views of interiors of churches and crypts with bright tones and colorful characters, RENOUX exhibited at the Salon from 1822 to 1843, obtaining a second class medal in 1822 and a first class in 1831. He also taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he trained among others Narcisse BERCHERE (1819-1891) He was also an illustrator, probably collaborating with LORY on Voyage pittoresque de Sicile (1822) and with CADOLLE, at Vues de Moscou. At the request of Louis-Philippe, RENOUX produced a series of historical paintings for the Palace of Versailles. He also participated in the realization of dioramas with DAGUERRE AND BOUTON that he presented first in Paris then in London from 1840, after the return of BOUTON in France.
He was promoted Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1838.
