Fireplace Plate With Alliance Arms From Charles Hervé De Rarécourt And Jeanne Joeffroy

Fondue fireback from the end of the 17th or early 18th century, with the alliance arms of Charles Hervé de Rarécourt from the Pimodan Valley (1671-1736), adviser to the parliament of Metz on February 28, 1698 then president with mortar in the same court December 10, 1701, baron and count of Echenay, lord of Richemont and d'Uckange, grand bailiff of the towns and Toul in 1719, and of Jeanne Joeffroy, married on July 14, 1699. He is the son of Charles Christophe de Rarécourt (1640-1718), lieutenant of the king, grand bailiff of Toul and Jeanne Catherine de Midot de Villers. The Rarécourt family has its origins in the parish of Rarécourt, in Argonne (Meuse). The first mention of a Raoul, "knight, vowed of Rarécourt", dates from 1256.
