"Pierre-gaston Rigaud (1874-1939) - Interior Of Chartres Cathedral"
Without doubt one of the best Bordeaux painters of the first half of the 20th century, Pierre-Gaston Rigaud was in Paris the pupil of Léon Bonnat, Gustave Moreau and Albert Maignan. Especially of the latter, he kept the imprint in the search for color and in a neo-impressionist technique that he knew how to make very personal. His career was brilliant and culminated in Bordeaux with the decoration of the Pavillon de la Guyenne et de la Gascogne for the international exhibition of 1937, which earned him a medal. But he stood out above all for his cathedral interiors with flamboyant stained glass windows, which earned him worldwide fame thanks to their regular reproduction in English and American magazines at Christmas time!
