Frédéric Martens Frédéric Martens or Friedrich von Martens, born in Venice on December 16, 1806 and died in Paris on January 12, 1885 (aged 78), is an Italian engraver and photographer of the 19th century, who is one of the pioneers of photography alpine, in Italy, Switzerland and Savoy. The lithographic proofs were edited by Adolphe Goupil.
