"Henri Aurrens (1873-1934) "3rd and last work by Henri Aurrens representing an oratory in Provence circa 1930, unsigned, dedicated and authenticated by his wife on the back "With all my wishes, I offer a work by my husband, April 1940, A.Aurrens + more far "To my little ..." girl? "; size without frame 61x50cm. I therefore propose this last work out of 3 (Port of Marseille (sold), Les Martigues and therefore this one), which represents an oratory in Provence circa 1930. I am not an expert or specialist of this painter, just an amateur, but I advances me to guarantee the authenticity of this one even though it is not signed. Indeed, I have 3 strong arguments to guarantee it: - 1) The touch and the palette specific to the painter, especially from his last period, because if the palette has remained exactly the same, the touch it differs a little since its The divided key is gradually replaced by larger flat areas (see a very similar work from the same period in the last photo) - 2) Its provenance, since it comes from the same succession of the painting on the Martigues - 3) And finally authentication by his wife on the back of this work. I finally come to the motif represented, an oratory in Provence, a subject painted several times by the painter, which I have not identified precisely, but I have no doubt that it will be recognized by amateurs and connoisseurs of the PACA region. Louis Henri Joseph Aurrens, born in Marseille on October 27, 1873, and died in May 1934, is a French painter, illustrator and caricaturist. Henri Aurrens went to Paris where he lived illustrating postcards and making various caricatures for magazines. Then he returned to Marseille, his hometown, and adopted his very personal pointillist style, in particular thanks to the dominant pink; he likes to paint the port of Marseille and its surroundings, but also Martigues. He will exhibit rare times in Paris as at the Salon d'Automne. Today we can see works by Aurrens in the following museums: Digne-les-Bains, Gassendi museum: In Montredon, oil on canvas. Marseille, Cantini museum: Spring morning. This canvas is in perfect condition, delivered in a 50s frame with gray patina.
