"Art Deco Monstrance, France Circa 1930"Sun monstrance in cast and gilded bronze and brass, thick glass and gilded silver for the lunula. Polyhedron head screw mounting. The massive flared, tapered and fluted body rests on a large circular base. The luminous glory consists of a transparent bevelled glass disc adorned at its edge with a nimbus of sinuous rays and surmounted by a Latin cross. The gilded silver and bevelled glass lunula is inscribed in the hinged portico quarter-panel without the glass. Art Deco style This monstrance attributed to the work of the Lyonnais house Villard et Fabre, circa 1930 Only the lunula bears the silversmith's hallmarks and the 950/1000 Minerva hallmarks.
