"Bronze Clock - Chronos And Its Scythe Par Galle "
Beautiful patina for this bronze clock representing Chronos and its scythe, enclosing under its left arm the cylinder of the clock whose glass is set in a bronze ring simulating a snake which bites its tail. Base in Yellow Siena marble, supported by small claw feet topped with a palmette, itself flanked by two outstretched wings. Dial marked: "Galle rue Richelieu Nr 93". This model is by Gerard-Jean Galle (1788-1846) son of Claude Galle (1759-1815) one of the most eminent bronziers of the Empire period, from which he took over the workshop in 1815. Some small chips and wear on the base marble. Restauration period.
