An antique colored terracotta figure of an African American, resting on a bench with newspaper and a cigar was executed by Bernard Bloch (died 1815) on his ceramics manufacture in Eichwald, Bohemia in the years 1880. Bernhard Bloch of Eichwald, the owner of Firma Bernhard Bloch, Eichwald in Bohemia (now the town of Dubi, Czech Republic), was one of the best producers of figurative terracottas and its traces appreciated by collectors today.Inscription: signed with BB monogram and model number 4873 on the back of the base
