"Large Glass Paste Vase, Richard Burghstal, Circa 1925"
Large vase by Richard BURGSTHAL; French master glassmaker, real name René BILLA. From 1912, after his meeting with Gustave Fayet, he moved to Bièvres, and developed his own oven, using the treatise of the monk Théophile, dating from 1125. He discovered the blues of Chartres in 1913, the ruby red in July of the same year. Decorations at the Abbey of Fontfroide in Narbonne, graphic works in Béziers, Narbonne, Paris (Orsay). The Richard vases are produced by the Loetz factory in Bohemia, and date from 1925-26.
