Oil on parqueted oak panel (two boards) Total dimensions with frame: 64 x 58 cm. The panel alone: 34 x 27 cm Superb 17th century frame with an inverted profile in walnut veneer interspersed with blackened rods. Claude Deruet (circa 1588-1660) is a 17th century Baroque Lorraine painter from Nancy. We know that he painted mythological scenes and official portraits of the great figures of the time. But also his workshop produced very many small portraits, mainly female with generally rich costumes and adorned with beautiful jewels, a strong demand on the part of amateurs is surely at the origin of this very fashionable production at the beginning of the 17th century. century.
