Barbizonian landscape, morning mist. Oil on canvas signed by the painter Paul Buffet. Beautiful frame in wood and gilded and painted stucco.

Paul Buffet 1864-1941 French painter born in Paris, trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, pupil of Gustave Boulanger and Jules Levebre. Painter of history and landscape, exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1886. He moved towards Orientalism and joined the Society of Orientalist Painters in 1893.
2nd class medal at the 1893 Salon.
Winner of the national prize in 1896, he received a silver medal during the Universal Exhibition of 1900, the same year participated in the decoration of the rooms of the restaurant Le Train Bleu at the Gare de Lyon in Paris.
He participated in the Colonial Exhibition in Marseille in 1906.
In 1907, Paul Buffet participated in
to the decoration of the town hall of Neuilly sur Seine. He became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1909.

In 1916, Paul Buffet intended for the priesthood. He becomes the chaplain of the Union des Catholiques des Beaux Arts. He obtains the Legion of Honor. Works by his hand appear in the collections of several French museums including: Musee des Beaux Arts de Nantes, Troyes, Musée Crozatier Le Puy en Velay, Musée d´Orsay Paris.
