Maurice Boudot-Lamotte is a French painter born in 1878, died in 1958. In 1897, he worked under the direction of Jules Lefebvre, then of Gustave Moreau, receives advice from Eugène Carrière and takes drawing lessons from the animal handler Frémiet. But, having to face up to his family obligations, he abandoned his painting career to become an employee of the Prefecture of the Seine. Thanks to his limited means, he has built up a collection of old and modern paintings which have been bequeathed to the Musée de l'Oise in Beauvais. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants from 1902, at the Salon d'Automne from 1909 to 1924 and at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts in 1913 - 1914. Boudot-Lamotte's work is sometimes realistic, sometimes symbolist , and can even go as far as a certain abstraction.
