Golden frame in wood and stucco. (Usual wear). Frame dimensions 48 x 40 cm.
Dimensions of the painting 32 x 24 cm. Signed and dated 1939.
Edgar Scauflaire, born in 1893 in Liège and died in 1960, is a graphic designer and painter from Liège.
Edgar Scauflaire was also a wise art critic and wrote his articles under the pseudonym Jean Hibou.
He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, where he was taught by Auguste Donnay, Adrien de Witte, François Maréchal, Émile Berchmans,
During the war of 1940, he led the Atelier Libre in Liège, organized by the municipal administration to help artists.
He will then stay in Liège, only escaping at the option of orders and exhibitions that make him travel around the world, in particular to Paris, Venice, and Milan.
In 1958, the city of Liège devoted a major retrospective to him, as well as in 1994 to the Société Générale de Banque.
