"Pastel Signed Jean Alphonse Roehn, Portrait Of A Polytechnician Student"
Pastel on paper mounted on canvas, portrait of a polytechnician pupil signed Jean Alphonse Roehn, French painter born in Paris on January 31, 1799, died in the same city on May 10, 1864. Son of Adolphe Roehn, he entered in 1813 at the School of Fine Arts and was a pupil of Regnault and Gros there: second class medal in 1827. Exhibited at the salon from 1822 portraits and genre subjects. Like his father, he was a drawing teacher at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand, Roehn painted many interiors in which he likes to play with light effects. His works are treated with extreme care and delicacy. Dimension with gilded and glazed frame H61 cm x W53 cm, without frame H46 x 38 cm. This pastel is in excellent condition and very well made.
