Important group in terracotta after Clodion signed "Clodion" representing a fauna accompanied and playing with a small faun and a child.
Signature "Clodion" on the back, below on the terrace.
Sculpture in very good condition from the end of the 19th century.

The Bacchanalas were religious festivals celebrated in the 'Antiquity, linked to the Dionysian mysteries, they were held in honor of Bacchus, Roman god of fury, drunkenness and especially and above all sexual excesses.
Claude Michel, known as Clodion, was born in 1738 in Nancy. In 1755, he joined the workshop of JB Pigalle.
Grand Prix de sculpture of the Royal Academy in 1761, he died in 1814.
He is known for his mythological groups of dancers, nymphs, or terracotta bathers.
