The work incorporates a model created by Nicholas Berchem and made famous through a series of printed engravings. In particular, the subject of our painting belongs to a series of four paintings designed by Berchem, representing rural scenes corresponding to so many parts of the day: dawn, meridies (see the picture in detail), evening and night. The work represents small and vibrant scenes of everyday and popular life, with a descriptive and realistic taste and animated effects of light and color. Note the nursing mother breastfeeding her son, in a break from work in the fields, which we see reproduced in many masterpieces.
The painting is in good condition and is accompanied by a beautiful gilded wood frame of the eighteenth century.
The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity (Fima - Cinoa).
