Clock Portico Spiral Columns "deschamps à Paris" Empire

Object description :

"Clock Portico Spiral Columns "deschamps à Paris" Empire"
Portico clock, high manufacture, in gilded bronze with mercury, Empire period. Signed "Deschamps à Paris" watchmaker referenced in the tardy, dictionary of watchmakers. Sober architecture, four columns finely chiseled with spirals with a motif of griffins, lyres and foliage. Beautiful domed white enamel dial featuring the watchmaker's signature in gold, chiseled with a water leaf outline. The space between the columns is occupied by a Berthoud balance, a lens of the same gilding as the clock.

Original mechanism without modification, wire suspension, hour and half hour strike on an old bell.

Perfect authenticity and a remarkable state of conservation.

The quality and sobriety of the empire, high manufacture, thick bronze, intact gilding. Very pleasant to watch in operation.
