Object description :

"Important Persian Kashan Rug, 345 Cm X 522 Cm, Iran, Kork Wool, Circa 1930, 1940"
Important Kashan carpet in kork wool, circa 1930, 1940, measuring 345 cm wide and 522 cm long.
The carpet is in beautiful condition with general wear and a very nice shabby style "Family Home" and has incredible colors, shades of yellows and blues.
It matches very well with its "little brother" that we also present on Proantic which measures 332 cm x 475 cm and which has the same colors.
This carpet requires a beautiful large room to receive it so that you can fully enjoy it
. (Kork wool is taken from under the belly and around the neck of lambs, where the softest wool is.)
Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): a large city in central Iran. During the Persian Renaissance, Kashan was the center for the production of legendary rugs. Finely woven carpets, very rich in composition, were knotted by the royal factory of Shah Abbas.
They have become the centerpieces of museums and private collections.
The craft industry stopped in Kashan between the invasion of the Afghans (1722) and the end of the 19th century.
The relaunch of the production of rugs started with rugs which are distinguished by the superior quality of wool giving an extremely velvety appearance. These specimens are called Kashan Motashemi, from the name of the most famous master weaver of the end of the XIXth century.
The decorations are varied and offer meticulous craftsmanship: hunting scenes, figures with figures inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant decor, trees of life.
Thanks to the superior quality of wool, their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and patterns, the Kashans took their place among the best Persian rugs. This beautiful old Kashan has very bright colors and is mainly composed, of a large medallion, large interlacings, arabesques and flowers, the kork wool is clean and soft. Both its decoration and its colors are characteristic of this provenance.
At the same time very rich and fine in its lines, this decoration was executed by the weaver with the help of a cardboard previously drawn, as we can see from the accuracy of the patterns in the corner of the borders.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
