"History" great bronze by Alfred Boucher,
Important allegorical statue, representing history, personified as a seductive young woman writing. Bronze produced at the beginning of the 20th century around 1910 (old font). As a presentation voucher, green patina for the base and the tree, aged gold (dark) taking different shades depending on its lighting for the allegory, presence of old patina covers. The sculptor's name: BOUCHER is present on the base. This work is described (p.246/247) in the reasoned catalogue of Alfred Boucher by Jacques Piette, the model head of this bronze belonging to the Fondation La Ruche-Seydoux in Paris.
Alfred Boucher 1850/1934 joined the Paris School of Fine Arts in 1869 with the sculptor Paul Dubois as a teacher, two stays in Italy completed his training. His talent allowing him to respond to numerous commissions from the state, he became one of the most prominent sculptors of the late 19th century. Receiving awards and distinctions (second prize in Rome in 1876, grand prize for sculpture at the 1900 World's Fair...) in 1925 he was awarded the Grand Officer's Medal of the Legion of Honour.
