She was born in Szeged, Hungary, in 1897 and studied in her native country under the tutelage of Kukan Geza. In 1924, the artist began to exhibit his paintings at the Mucsarnok salon in Budapest, mainly depicting female nudes. Critics note that in his creative work, Szantho was initially influenced by Hungarian artists Lotz and Benczur, but then developed his own original style.
