Léon François COMERRE (1850-1916) Young Lady With Kitten Oil on canvas signed left Old frame re-gilded with leaves Dim canvas : 50 X 50 cm Dim frame : 61 X 61 cm COMERRE Léon François (1850-1916) French painter born 10 October 1850 in Trélon (North of France) Dead 20 February 1916 in Paris. He was taught by Alphonse-Victor Colas (1818-1887) in Lille and Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889) at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris. He was Grand Prix of Roma in 1875. He got a bronze medal at the Salon of Paris in 1875, an other reward in 1881, then an honor medal for the World Fair of Anvers in 1885. He was made chevalier de la légion d’honneur. He was appointed on contest for decorating the function room at the city Hall of Paris IV, and at the Lyon Prefecture. Bibliographie : Dictionary of Artists E. Benezit Book III /811
