Out of 218 infantry regiments, only one carries this griffon plate with spread wings, the 109th Badois; note also that this helmet is one of only eight regiments that can wear with a smooth white Trichter a haarbusch of white horsehair, in this specific case for Baden, it is even only two battalions, the 1st or 2nd d 'a Regiment, so not even a complete regiment. Chin straps composed of 15 copper scales cut alternately from two or three festoons, decreasing in width. Scales fixed by wire crampons, flattened on a leather core lined with a black sheepskin. Left chinstrap fitted at its end with a small tenon to fix the other chinstrap in which a hollow notch was made. Upper scale of each chinstrap covered with a mobile nickel silver rosette, independent of the chinstrap. Land-Kokarde, serrated and stamped metallic, specific to the troop in gold-scarlet-gold colors and national cockade in black-white-red colors. Bomb capped with a removable point, with pearl groove, and pierced with two ventilation holes, fixed on a round base riveted by four rivets in the shape of half-hemispheres. Sweatband in light brown soft leather with scalloped upper edge of wolf teeth, interior of headdress composed of two ecru silk flaps covering the top of the skull, wear and tear. Good condition, slight depression of the bomb under the end of the left wing, wear and lack on the silk flaps of the inner cap. Duchy of Baden. Second Reich.
