Specializing in seascapes and landscapes, this painter from the school of Wissant distinguished himself at the Salon of French Artists in the 1920s by receiving several medals and exhibitor at the Galerie Georges Petit. A great lover of contrasts and subdued lights, a vein of similarities is found throughout his career.

This view of the main square of the bastide town of Beaumont du Périgord is taken under the arcades, in the direction of the fortified church of Saint Laurent and Saint Front, dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. The technique used here is similar to drawing, where the artist uses his medium and the color to create his background. The ocher-colored wood takes the place of limestone from the hillsides of Périgord and the outskirts of Quercy.
