"Georges Bareau (1866-1931) - Vox Pacis"
Student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Georges Bareau follows the teaching of Gabriel-Jules Thomas. He exhibited at the Salon from 1889. He obtained a third medal at the Salon of the Society of French Artists in 1893 and a Gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 which crowned his career. He is the author of several important groups in Paris like "La Vision du Poète" (1900) as an homage to Victor Hugo in the Ranelagh garden and "Asian art" on the facade of the Grand Palais. Note also the marble "Le Temps creating Wisdom" (1902) at the Museum of Fine Arts in Nantes. His works are widely distributed by Ferdinand Barbedienne.
