Pines in Japan (Matsu):
In Japan one of the main trees used in gardens is the pine (matsu), this is a symbol of victory over adversity. Therefore, every garden, even a small one, has one. Three types of pine are the most common: white pine (Pinus parviflora), red pine (Pinus densiflora) and black pine (Pinus thunbergii). They can be pruned or not, pruned they are then called "Niwaki", these are trees that we call "pruned in clouds". Not to be confused with bonsai trees, which are trees cultivated in a limited space, pine is also very suitable for this art of bonsai.
