Emile DECOEUR (1876-1953) & Manufacture Nationale de SEVRES Quadrilobed vase (listed under number 76 at the Manufacture de Sèvres) with flattened belly, hemmed collar resting on oval foot on heel. Shaded olive green decor partially speckled with gray. This model of Chinese inspiration, created in 1910 and reissued in Sèvres between 1942 and 1953 quickly became one of the most famous vases of the manufacture. Bibliogaphy Emile Decœur gallery Michel Giraud model reproduced under the numbers 176 -177 -322 -323 Height 18.5 cm Émile Decoeur was appointed following Jean Mayodon artistic director of the Manufacture de Sèvres by Guillaume Jeanneau. His reign begins on April 1, 1942 and ends on March 31, 1948. Decoeur will breathe new life into the factory with its creations focusing on shapes over decor inspired by the Chinese Tang Song Yuan dynasties. Atherton CURTIS (1863-1968) was a great American collector and played a determining role in the career of Emile DECOEUR by the regular and important number of pieces bought from the artist assimilating to an active patronage.
