"Thule Culture Hair Comb, Greenland, Canadian Arctic, Alaska"
HAIR COMB
Culture of Thule, Greenland, Canadian Arctic, Alaska
12th - 16th centuries Walrus tooth
H .: 8cm approx.

Very elegant model by its invoice. Indeed, the upper part is presented as a U summing a particularly curved medial part. The head of the comb, where the teeth are cut, is in two short obliques. The teeth are short, fine and harmonious.
We can perceive a form of marine animal there. The handle of the comb would form the tail of the cetacean while the teeth would relate to its baleen. These combs are said to have been used for styling and removing lice.
