Very nice painting by Silvija Meskone (born in 1942), oil on hardboard, depicting a traveling merchant of clothes and fashion accessories. Realized in the 1970s, this figurative work tending towards abstraction is characteristic of one of the periods of this artist before she devoted herself fully to abstract art. One of the most prominent Latvian artists, Silvija Meskone has successfully participated in numerous exhibitions in Riga of course, but also in several European cities. It is currently on permanent display at the MuseumLV gallery in Montreux, Switzerland. This table, rich in material, is vibrant and dynamic although the scene is almost motionless. Presence of a monogrammed signature at the bottom right of the composition. Origin: large private collection of the Loire Valley. Dimensions: Height 46 cm. Width 49 cm (56 cm x 60 cm with its frame).
