Object description :

"Limestone Head Of Christ, Lorraine Or Champagne, Circa 1500"
Head of Christ in limestone, Lorraine or Champagne, circa 1500
Remains of a monumental crucifixion - or a group of Ecce Homo, this beautiful head of resigned Christ shows the characters of the Lorraine and Champagne sculpture around 1500. We note in particular thestylized eyes so as to highlight the despair and the resignation of Christ, quite close to the work of the Master of Pont-à-Mousson. The crown of thorns is perforated by the use of a drill bit.
Some traces of polychromy. The face has taken on a grayish color.
Visible accidents and lacks.
