TORENT Evelio Spanish Born in Bardalona in 1876 died in Barcelona in 1940 Gaucho and horses in the pre Argentina circa 1910 Oil on canvas stretched on pine frame with keys. Argentinian gaucho accompanying three saddled horses fresh out of the meadow. Man in traditional dress wearing a hat posing. In 1910 Evelio Torent stays in Buenos Aires which allows us to locate this painting around this time. Our artist was a student of Ramon Marti y Alsina at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. From 1901, he stayed in Paris, finding Picasso who was his friend. He spent some time in his country, in Madrid, then he went to work as a pre-treatment artist in England and the United States. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in Paris in 1910 as well as at Barceleone. He notably portrayed King George V in England, President Wilson in the United States, King Alfonso XIII and General Primo de Rivera in Spain.
