"Chiné Silk Taffeta With Large Decor In Three Stripes - Lyon Louis XV Period"
Circa 1750 - 1775 France Lyon Exceptional set of three strips mounted in heathered silk taffeta with a large decoration dating from the end of the Louis XV period. Between 67 and 70 cm wide, these draperies deposited then preserved and stabilized by marouflage, carries an embroidery in cross stitch indicating C.1176.4 surmounted by a crown, indicating a prestigious origin not identified. Drawing with a large decoration of orange trees, flowery Medici vase and twisted ribbons alternating in a subtle camaieu of color green, orange, yellow, brown and yellow. Stable condition with a few insect holes at two ends and a few restoration nips. Otherwise Good general condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: 1 strip of 70 cm x 211 cm high in 2 sections with selvedges, 1 strip of 66 cm wide x 288 cm high in 3 sections and 1 strip of 67 cm x 312 cm high in 4 sewn sections.
