"The "salvator Mundi" By Carlo Maratta"Carlo Maratta (Camerano 1625, Rome 1713) "Salvator Mundi" Oil on canvas Measuring canvas 41 x 33 frame 63 x 55 Second half of the 1600s We present this magnificent work of Carlo Maratta certain to satisfy even the most attentive collectors. Despite some awkward touches, fortunately in limited and peripheral areas of the Child's face, the painting appears in excellent condition with the face of the protagonist intact and in all its beauty. It is a magnificent canvas by one of the most famous authors of Italian Baroque painting and many of his works are exhibited in major international museums (Metropolitan, National Gallery, Rijksmuseum and many others). Our painting, of limited size, was probably ordered for private use and the Christ Child presents beautiful characteristics highlighted by the pictorial capacities of the author. The subject is particularly intriguing, as well as very pleasant, and illuminates both the sight and the soul.
