Object description :

"Flemish School Of The Early 17th Century : Les Bucherons, Oil On Copper"
The lumberjacks in early fall. In the foreground on the right, under a large tree which has lost its leaves, two standing lumberjacks, one of which in red overcut pruning trunks already felled and others in the background carry branches on a cart harnessed to a white horse. Further on, to the right, a village and all the little figures wearing light straw hats who seem to be going to mass. On the left on the meanders of a road which is lost on the horizon through the forest. This copper oil in fresh tones is fully integrated into the Flemish pictorial tradition of the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, in the cycle of the seasons and the enhancement of rural crafts. It is in line with the Brueghel and Abel Grimer through the annual repetition of the cycle of the seasons, are retained moments the year (months or seasons) which frame the activities of men: various activities from sowing time, harvests, harvests, all against a backdrop of landscapes. Superb gilded and patinated wooden frame from the Regency period, designed in the early 18th century for this painting.
