Old frame, gilded wood. Usual wear. Dimensions 32.5 x 42.5 cm. Sign.
Fold in the center of the sheet. Dimensions 29 x 39 cm. Project for the Opera.
Mikhail Yakovlev (1880-1942)
Painter, designer and stage designer born and died in Russia. Studied at the Stroganov School from 1898 to 1900, then at the Penza Academy from 1900 to 1901 (professor Konstantin Savitzky).
He then follows the courses of Ilya Repine at the Academy of Saint Petersburg. He was successively Symbolist and Impressionist.
His activity as a painter was doubled, from 1910, that of a decorator at the Moscow theater.
Lived in France and Belgium (1923-1937). Lives in Moscow from 1937 to 1941.
Then goes to Tblilisi where he died in 1942.
