Object description :

"Pieter Snyers"

very beautiful paintings forming a pendant, Flemish school around 1720, attributed to Pieter Snyers, representing the Visit of Saint Anthony to Saint Paul. The two compositions, produced with sensitivity and fervor, evoke the beginning of monasticism and invite meditation through these two episodes of spiritual life. Many details describe the life of the first Hermits: Ravens, skull, tau, bible, hourglass, whip ... On the left edge of the second panel, an unexpected still life with cabbage, carrots and turnips placed on the ground, reveals the identity of the painter, of which it is one of the main characteristics. Our diptych is painted on two reinforced oak panels, some minimal repainting in the funds, the varnishes have been cleaned, a slit on the panel can be seen on the right edge not affecting the reading of the works, the old frames in gilded wood Louis XV are enshrined in black lacquered frames. On the back of the panels are the labels of a furniture repository in Brussels. HD photos available on request . Total dimensions of each painting: 74 cm x 60, single panel 51 cm x 38 cm For any further information, you can reach us on 06/22/14/02/09
