"Biedermeier Armoire, Cherry Solid Wood, South Germany, Circa 1820"
Classicist, early Biedermeier armoire from South Germany, circa 1820.
Bright cherry solid wood with box fillings, wonderful shellac hand-polish. Little ebonized parts, like the inner edges of the box fillings, the middle bar and party of the cornice and plinth. Ebonized, convex half-columns with chased brass capitals and bases.
Wonderful original brass fittings, key and hinges. Old box lock. Inside, the armoire has 4 inlay plates, covered with black cotton fabric. Dismantable in the middle, for easier transport.
