"Pair Of Neoclassical Ornamental Urns"
Pair of large neoclassical jugs Characteristics of neoclassical creations of the reign of Louis XVI, combining noble material with clean lines and rich mount in gilded bronze very finely chiseled, this pair of vases covered with ovoid shape were carved in a marble flower of peach with large white veins giving volume and elegance to the material. They are adorned with an important gilt bronze frame emphasizing the purity of the lines. Thus, the neck is decorated with a frieze of bay leaves, and gaudrons decorated with asparagus, the cover is topped with a pinecone grip, the paunch is flanked with Greek handles and decorated with large scrolls very finely chopped foliage, the base of the belly is set in a frieze of water leaves and the pedestal adorned with a wrapped crown. The set rests on a square base, a model that can be compared with other certified creations, to the very famous foundry-chaser of the Louis XVI reign, Pierre Gouthière (1732-1813).
