Magnificent mask of Medusa, one of the three gorgonians. In Greek mythology, gorgonians are fabulous monsters, children of the sea deities Phorcys and Keto. They were 3 sisters: Medusa (the only mortal), Stheno (the powerful) and Euryale. They were represented in the form of women with hair made of intertwined snakes and sometimes endowed with wings; they lived near the country of the Hesperides, on the borders of Libya. This plaster mask is reproduced identically
