Francesco Longo MANCINI was born in Catania in 1880. He died in Rome in 1954. In Sicily, he was a pupil of the Technical Institute of Catania. Then he moved to Rome where he joined the famous "Scuola libera del nudo" (who has taught drawing since 1754) under the direction of Francesco Jacovacci. With quick and sure touches, the painter sets the scene, suggests movement and brings the painting to life. This young woman with delicate features and dressed in a long and wide blue dress with ruffles and lace plays the harpsichord. A vase of brightly colored flowers, a pendulum on a pedestal table and a majestic chandelier with pendants complete the scene in pure Baroque style. This work in excellent condition was painted on a relatively fine canvas, too, for the sake of conservation our restoration workshop preferred to double it to ensure its sustainability. The table is highlighted by a quality Louis XV style frame gilded with gold leaf. Its dimensions with the frame are 43.5 cm X 32.5 cm. flag
