Renowned painter for his military subjects, Eugène Chaperon presents here the statue of the knight Bayard in the courtyard of the Palace of Versailles with the North builbing of the ministers. This painting is an interesting testimony to the interior design of the courtyard of the Palace of Versailles at the end of the 19th century, with still the many historic statues commissioned under Louis-Philippe. This statue was offered in 1933 to the military school of Saint-Cyr in Coëtquidan and put in place in 1967. It is here a living scene with this character looking at the statue. A favorite.
