"Madonna And Child, Alfred Désiré Lanson (1851 - 1898)"
Alfred Désiré Lanson was born on March 11th, 1851, in Orléans. Died in 1898 in Paris. French artist, sculptor, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and with Rouillard, Jouffroy and A. Millet. He exhibited at the Salon from 1870 until his death. He won the Prix de Rome in 1876, third class medals in 1875, second class in 1879, first class in 1880. He won the grand prix in 1889 at the World Exhibition and was appointed knight of the Legion of Honor in 1882.
