Object description :

"Small Chinese Mirror. XVIIIth Century"
Pretty little mirror to hang or ask, painted wood decorated with garlands of flowers and Chinese figurines, in bluish and gray tones.
First part of the 18th century.
This little glass, with its crazy charm, undeniably brings to mind the decorations of Pillement (1728-1808) Painter and aquafortist, he will be the Painter of Queen Marie Antoinette. He started at the Gobelins factory, where he produced his drawings. Then traveled a lot, especially in Spain and Portugal, as a painter of decorations. Named Painter of King Stanislas II of Poland, he decorates his castle, with his famous Chinese Salon, which will establish his "trademark". We find these famous chinoiseries at the Petit Trianon in Versailles. It will also inspire the factories of Luneville Saint Clement, recognizable with their Chinese decor.
