Author of many lithographs, the romantic Octave Tassaert became known by touching subjects or miserabilists who earned him the nickname "Corrège de la mansarde" or "Prudhon du poor". He was also a painter of women, whom he painted "elegantly, combining concern for form with carnal realism all Flemish" (Edouard Bénézit). This is the case with our drawing, whose spirit is closer to the Delacroix of the "Massacre of Sardanapale" than to academic nudes
