Ararait Knife Bracelet flag

Object description :

"Ararait Knife Bracelet"
Surprising custom is to confront and scarify your opponent. We will then show its traces of bravery throughout the tribe .... fortunately for us this "fashion" did not seduce us ... Found on the internet: BRACELET KNIFE ARARAIT - TURKANA / ACHOLI - KENYA This very special type of weapon consists of a steel disc, the cutting edge of which is protected by a ring of oily leather. These weapons, which local people call "ararait" (a term common to wrist knives and finger knives) would have their origin in the Turkana. They are now also found in Acholi, Shuli, Toposa, Nuba, Shiluk, from Kenya to Sudan via Uganda. Originally these weapons were used for close combat and jousting of young warriors. Today, they can still be seen worn during dances or combat simulations. Women have also appropriated them for domestic use.
