Early 18th century portrait of a lady of high nobility Marquise or Duchess ** very elegant, with a gentle face, wearing pearl earrings in drops, styled in Fontanges with a beaded finery. Leaning on the arm of a Louis XIV upholstered armchair, she is dressed in a sumptuous burgundy red dress with scalloped fine lace surrounding the neckline and a blue coat with flecks of ermine speckled. ** Blue and ermine are clothing signifiers of the high nobility close to the Royal Court. Jewels adorn the upper left arm of her dress, the bottom of the sleeves with gold braid leaves each arm uncovered in two rows of puffy lace. Portrait of the French school of the early 18th century in perfect condition (formerly rented). Portrait in an 18th century frame in gilded carved wood.
